If you’ve recently purchased a vehicle out of state, are transferring a vehicle title, or have just moved to Maryland and need to register your car, a Maryland State Inspection is a required part of the process. Here’s everything you need to know.
What Does the Inspection Cover?
During a state inspection, our technicians thoroughly examine your vehicle from top to bottom. This includes glass (such as the windshield and driver’s window), suspension components, emission components, exhaust, brakes, tires, wiper blades, power steering, and much more.
How Often Do You Need One?
One of the best things about the Maryland State Inspection is that once your vehicle passes, you typically never need to do it again — unless you’re transferring the title to someone else. The one exception is rideshare drivers: if you drive for Uber or Lyft, the inspection is required on a yearly basis.
How Long Does It Take?
Once our technicians begin working on your vehicle, a state inspection takes approximately an hour and a half to complete.
